In 2019, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) launched the Medicaid Managed Care Procurement process to re-evaluate the current contracts ODM has in place with Managed Care Plans (MCPs). The goal of this effort is to re-frame the program into one that does better for the people we serve.

You might ask, how are we putting the Medicaid Managed Care mission statement - to focus on the individual rather than the business of managed care - into action? As we at ODM conduct a review of the structure that is in place today, we are first considering individuals’ needs when making decisions about how to evolve the Medicaid Managed Care program in Ohio. The feedback we receive is directly informing the future program structure.

In the coming year, as we evaluate the changes to be made to Ohio's Medicaid Managed Care program, we will continue to provide information about any anticipated changes, necessary actions, and time frames for when changes can be expected.
